Client(s): MA Department of Elementary & Secondary Education
Service: Technical Assistance and Coaching
Expertise: Immigrant Integration and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
In an exciting partnership between World Education and Boston’s Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center, 22 Seaport employees are taking workplace-based, customized ESOL classes in a workplace education program called English for Seaport Team Members. Now in its third year, this project helps Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center “team members” to more effectively do their jobs and grow their careers, while contributing to the high quality of service provided to their guests. A collaborative Planning and Evaluation Team, comprised of World Education lead staff and Seaport supervisors, managers and program participants, plays an active role in program governance and provides input into curriculum so that instruction directly connects to workplace needs. Funding is through a Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE) Workplace Education grant.
