The Virginia Community College System has contracted with World Education's National College Transition Network (NCTN) to assist in designing a forty-hour hybrid certification training for Virginia’s statewide Adult Career Coach initiative. World Education is developing a customized online course that is the centerpiece of the certification training, hosted on our e-learning platform.
Adult Career Coaches are stationed at each of Virginia’s community colleges. In partnership with local One Stop Career Centers, Adult Career Coaches assist dislocated workers, un- and underemployed adults, and veterans enter postsecondary training programs in targeted high growth industries. The Adult Career Coach initiative is funded through the US Department of Labor, Trade Act Adjustment Community College Transformation (TAACCT) grants. NCTN is working with four states on TAACCT initiatives.
The Virginia Community College System expects to enroll 75 adult career coaches in the first cohort of certification candidates in February, 2014.
