Information and Communication Technologies |

Even as more children are gaining access to basic education in schools, there are still huge challenges for many, especially the hurdles of distance and cost. In rural areas, the nearest schools can be at the end of a long and dangerous trip. As children move up in grade level, there are additional hurdles. Schools can get farther away. There are often not enough seats, school books, and trained teachers. For teachers, lack of technology training can hold back individuals as well as overall country development, yet the distance to physical training sites and the costs of travel and teachers are often barriers for the NGOs that are contributing to development. World Education integrates technology into learning to prepare students and teachers for the changing digital world. We do this by supplying schools with computers and tablets designed for developing country classrooms, training teachers in interactive programs to better reach students, and creating mobile solutions to literacy and child labor issues. We specialize in developing—with end user participation—field based curricula, educational technology, and training programs in a variety of technical areas. We also harness the power of mobile phone technology to contribute to literacy in remote areas. We have developed texting-based learning and smartphone applications. Our projects demonstrate the importance of possessing basic communications technology skills for fostering inclusion, giving disadvantaged youth a better chance to cross the opportunities gap and accessing more and better employment options. World Education has extensive in-house expertise in developing online trainings, e-Education, and other information technology. Learn more at the EdTech Center. |
