World Education Literacy Divison Publications List

World Education is a private non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of the poor through economic and social
development programs. World Education provides training and technical assistance in nonformal education for adults and children with special emphasis on literacy, income generation, small enterprise development, environmental education, maternal and child health, AIDS education, food production, and family life education.

World Education's Literacy Division strengthens the ability of programs, organizations, and communities to serve adult learners. We work with practitioners and programs to help adults improve their basic education or English language skills. We train teachers, program managers, and community leaders in proven approaches and share research findings that can inform practice. We also identify and support potential leaders within the adult literacy community. Whether we work with individuals or organizations, we seek to build sytems that advance our entire field.

Our approach today is rooted in World Education's earliest international and domestic work 50 years ago. We create ways in which everyone — teachers, learners, and program directors — can contribute to analyzing and solving problems. We value learners' and teachers' knowledge. Our approach ensures that people invest the time and the resources needed for individual programs and whole systems to improve and endure.
