Improved Basic Education in Cambodia (IBEC) Final Report

Download this publication
World Education's Improved Basic Education in Cambodia Project (IBEC) aimed to improve access to and quality of education in Cambodia from 2009 to 2014. IBEC supported 301 schools in the Kampong Cham, Siem Reap, and Kratie provinces through a combination of scholarships, school latrines and safe water, and other enrollment-boosting activities mediated by school grants. IBEC also strengthened educational quality by improving curricula in life skills, teacher education, and school management.
The project eventually expanded some of its programming elements (mainly life skills education) to 30 additional secondary schools in Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, and Kampong Thom Provinces.

This final report details the project's successes and lessons learned in providing enhanced educational services to 81,024 primary school students and 55,359 secondary school students by Year 5. IBEC was funded by USAID and implemented in partnership with the Kampuchean Action from Primary Education and the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport.
