World Education Global Voices: A Celebration of Over 60 Years of Empowering People Through Education
October 31, 2017
World Education, a Boston-based nonprofit, hosted its annual celebration and fundraiser, Global Voices, on Thursday, October 26th.
Global Voices showcased the positive impact of education—for girls, as well as boys and adults—around the world through storytelling. Through brief, vivid stories, individuals learned about World Education’s projects throughout Africa, Asia, and the United States and learned about some of the most compelling and challenging aspects of World Education’s initiatives. Speakers included Roopshree Joshi from Nepal, Lucy Aklaku from Ghana, Vanessa Jeudy from Haiti, and Samukeliso Busika from Swaziland.
Global Voices is a critical opportunity for World Education to raise unrestricted funds for its global education work. Proceeds support World Education's programs benefiting more than half-a-million people.
Event sponsors included Louis Kaplow & Jody Forcheimer, The Seaport Hotel & World Trade Center, Matrix Economics, Bow Street Flowers, Karen Ansara, Farida & Imtiaz Kathawalia, Vivek Sharma, Venkat & Pratima Srinivasan, T. Rowe Price, Rishi Bhalerao, Yasmin Causer & Shabbir Dahod, L.V. Lomas Limited, Raj & Nalini Sharma, Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort, Lisa Stockberger, WBUR, WGBH, 90+ Cellars, Bolster, Notre Dame Education Center, Pathstone Federal Street, and People’s United Bank.
The event was hosted at the Seaport Hotel & World Trade Center where World Education implements the English for Seaport Team Members, a work place education program. This program offers Seaport employees onsite customized English for speakers of other languages classes. The project helps Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center staff to do their jobs more effectively and build their careers, while contributing to the high-quality of service provided to their guests.
