World Education Trains Clean Energy Ambassadors
World Education has been awarded the Adult Basic Education (ABE) Clean Energy Ambassadors project to provide adult basic education teachers and counselors with knowledge about clean energy industries so they can inform their students about clean energy job prospects, requirements, and training. World Education is one of eight organizations with a Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) Workforce Capacity Building and Youth Pathways Training Grants. The MassCEC was established by the Green Jobs Act of 2008.
Adult education is an area with the previously-untapped ability to motivate low-skilled, low-income people to pursue training for clean energy-related jobs, while simultaneously educating these often marginalized consumers about the importance of clean energy.
As Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray said when he announced the grants on June 15, 2012, “As we continue to strengthen the (clean energy) industry…this funding will support the training of our students and promote workforce development and training for future jobs in Massachusetts.”
