Ambassadors'
Girls' Scholarship Program

The Ambassadors' Girls' Scholarship Program
(AGSP) provides comprehensive support
for girls' education in Africa. A key
component of the U.S. President's Africa
Education Initiative (AEI), AGSP provides
support in the form of school scholarships,
mentoring, parent and community awareness
programs to promote and support girls'
education, and HIV and AIDS awareness
activities to prevent and mitigate the
spread of HIV. Scholarships are intended
to ensure access to educational opportunities,
and reflect the specific needs within
each country.

Bantwana Initiative

The Bantwana Initiative ('children' in
Zulu) helps children orphaned and made
vulnerable by AIDS access the full range
of support and comprehensive care they
need to grow into healthy adults. By
building the skills, resources and networks
of local programs already caring for
orphaned and vulnerable children, Bantwana
offers a different way of thinking, testing,
and scaling efforts that will shape the
next generation of Africa’s youth.

Education and Adult Literacy: Breast
and Cervical Cancer (HEAL:BCC)

screening in Adult Basic Education (ABE)

(ESOL) classrooms. HEAL:BCC is a collaboration
between World Education and the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention.

A collection of resources for anyone
interested in teaching health to adults
with limited literacy skills. The site
can direct you to information about the
link between literacy and health status;
guides and curricula for incorporating
health into literacy or ESOL classes;
and health brochures in plain English,
or languages other than English. There
are also links to organizations dedicated
to health and literacy education. The
site was developed in collaboration with
the National Institute for Literacy (NIFL),
and its LINCS project.

Center for the Study of Adult Learning

Consortium, or Northeast Literacy Tech,
is an informal collaboration between
state and local leaders in the field
of adult literacy in the Northeastern
part of the U.S. Our purpose is to advance

teachers on the use of the Internet in
the classroom, and in supporting teachers
and their students to publish on the
Web. This site contains links to our

for their use, and also some supplementary
materials. Created for teachers to enhance
and support our training around the region,
it may be useful to other teachers and

evaluations; watch video segments with
downloadable transcripts and follow-up
listening comprehension quizzes; and

The
Uganda AIDS/HIV Integrated Model
District Programme (AIM)

The Uganda AIDS/HIV Integrated Model
District Programme (AIM) works with organisations
and individuals to increase the provision
of HIV and AIDS services at district and
sub-district level resulting in broader
access to quality HIV and AIDS prevention,
care and support services. The AIM website
provides up-to-date project information
as well as Uganda-specific data, feature
stories, and links to various resources.
UPHOLD

UPHOLD is a six-year program (October
2002 to September 2008) funded by the
United States Agency for International
Development (USAID) and supported by
the Government of Uganda. The Program
strengthens capacity in 34 districts
for the improved delivery, planning,
management, monitoring and effective
use of social services in three integrated
social sectors: health, education and
HIV and AIDS. The primary beneficiaries are
Ugandan men, women and children in 34
districts across Uganda.
Voices
for Vulnerable Children

Voices for Vulnerable Children is a challenge
for high schools and colleges from around
the country to help children in need.
Our goal is to raise $75,000 to support
World Education's work in Africa and
Asia with children left orphaned and
vulnerable by poverty, disease, and war.
Without physical care or financial support,
these children are often forced into
child labor, trafficked into the sex
trade, or recruited as child soldiers.
Your help will make a world of difference
in the lives of so many suffering children.

World Education Australia Limited is
a leading provider of microfinance, micro-enterprise
and livelihoods support services in the
Asia Pacific region. We focus on assisting
poor communities in the region to improve
their living standards through livelihood
development programs, and by improving
their access to financial services. In
addition to partnering with and facilitating
World Education, Inc. projects in these
areas, World Education Australia is also
contracted by AusAID, URS, German development
agency GTZ, United Nations Development
Programme, and others to provide microfinance
expertise on a number of credit, savings
and micro-banking programs.

In South Africa, World Education, known
as Ntinga (Ntinga is a Zulu term that
means
"to soar" or to "fly high"), has operated
in the country since 1993. World Education's
focus has been on development of the
microenterprise sector, particularly
through building the capacity of local
organisations, such as providers of financial
and business development services. This
website presents an overview of World
Education/Ntinga's work as well as updated
information and resources on HIV and AIDS
in South Africa and worldwide.

have access to quality education. World
Education Thailand's vision is one of
capacity and empowerment and the belief
that education is the catalyst to change.
Youth
Star

Youth Star is a new organization in Cambodia
whose mission is to build a just and
peaceful nation through citizen service,
civic leadership, and social entrepreneurship.
It is a domestic volunteer program for
college graduates that enables these
youth to gain experience and skills,
while allowing them to apply their education
and enthusiasm to everyday problems facing
rural populations in education, agriculture,
community development and health.
World Education is working with Youth
Star to develop and implement its pre-service
training program for new volunteers and
cooperating with Youth Star on volunteer
placement, agreeing to have its volunteers
provide assistance to World Education
managed programs as one of their many
tasks and duties.
