Curriculum Development

World Education uses recognized best practices to develop high quality and relevant curricular materials for national-level formal education systems (K-12), as well as early childhood, higher education, and nonformal systems.

Assessment-based designs consider existing materials and resources and include all levels of stakeholders to ensure that relevant learning targets are identified. Local and international subject matter experts contribute to developing curricula, and robust evaluation systems ensure that curricula can adapt according to feedback and situational or policy changes.

World Education works with governments and other accrediting bodies to ensure that wherever possible materials that are designed lead to appropriate credentials, increasing the impact and sustainability of the work. Specific successes include Thai Ministry of Education adoption of World Education migrant education curriculum nationally and Cambodian Ministry of Education adoption of World Education early-grade reading curriculum. In Ghana, World Education helped to develop an HIV curriculum that not only improved teachers’ ability to teach the subject, but also decreased stigma and helped teachers inform and protect themselves. In Uganda, World Education supported the President’s Initiative on AIDS Strategy for Communication to Youth (PIASCY), developing the school curriculum that was rolled out nationally to all schools.
