is essential to survival. Investing in
girls' and women's education is one of
the most effective ways to ensure long-term
health and success.
For more than 50 years, World Education
has empowered women and girls through
education. Working in 26 countries around
the world—including the United
States—our programs promote literacy,
health, livelihoods development, financial
independence, and community improvement.
In honor of International Women's Day 2010,
we have created a slide show that highlights
several World Education programs that
have helped unleash girls' and women's
potential around the globe. Our programs
build skills and confidence, and give
women and girls more control over their
